Correcting AlienBBC Blank Web Page Display on QNAP NAS

When Clicking AlienBBC option under INTERNET RADIO in the SlimServer web interface the left hand panel does not display - the screen is blank. This can be corrected by setting the permissions on files correctly on the QNAP. Please note that the commands must be entered EXACTLY as show - case is important. Use the following instructions to correct the problem:

Use Putty to connect to the QNAP. At the login prompt enter the username admin, and the password (default admin).

At the (#) command prompt change the directory/folder using the following command : On the TS-109 or TS-209 fitted with a single drive

cd /share/HDA_DATA/etch/opt/slimserver/Plugins/Alien/HTML
On the TS-209 fitted with two drives enter the following
cd /share/MD0_DATA/etch/opt/slimserver/Plugins/Alien/HTML

Next issue the folllowing command that sets the correct permissions on the files:

chmod 775 * -R

If you now try to access the AlienBBC section under Internet Radion in SlimServer you should now see the channel list correctly displayed.

Network Time Servers

You may see the error "Failed to synchronize the time from NTP server" in the QNAP Event log in the Administrative web interface. This may indicate that the server is not set or unreachable. It could also indicate a firewall issue on your local network (LAN). For UK residents we recommend setting the time server to be:

0.europe.pool.ntp.org

The time server setting is found in the QNAP Administrative web interface under the "System Settings" "Date and Time" section.

  • At the login prompt (#) use the username admin and password admin.
  • At the command prompt enter (on a TS-109 or TS-209 with single drive):
    cd /share/HDA_DATA/Public

    cd /share/MD0_DATA/Public

  • Enter the command:
    ./install-ts10x-20x.sh uninstall

  • The unistall process will remove SlimServer from the system. You may be prompted to run the above command again if prompted.

Upgrading SlimServer 6.5.3 to 6.5.4 on the QNAP TS-109 or TS-209
